New growth and spring blossoms make our souls sing. We can't wait for the warm weather to slowly, but surely, increase our available offerings for YOU!

New Website

We've been working on this behind the scenes for a while now, but our revamped website is officially LIVE! We have SO much more up our sleeves, stay tuned for our ever-changing, community fueled, dynamic website that is FEED Sonoma.

Value Added Items for the Upcoming Week

A note on our value-added item for next week. Our 'ohana FEED Bins will contain a 2 pound bag of rice from our friends at Rue & Forsman Ranch in West Sacramento. Their ranch has partnered with The Nature Conservancy and other conservation groups to provide optimal habitat for migratory birds and other wildlife that call the ranch home. Rue and Forsman employs cutting-edge, sustainable farming practices with their conservation efforts to grow the highest quality rice possible while improving the land for future generations. That's the FEED Sonoma dream. Thank you for the rice Michael and team!

Where's the Ground Beef!?

a love story about the "seasonality" of sustainable ranching operations

unnamed.jpg

Small ranches, like our own True Grass Farms, don't necessarily have product available year round, especially as they grow to meet increasing demand. Ranching sustainably is a perpetual process that begins long before animals are ready for processing. This means tasks like breeding, accessing land, and developing grazing plans had to be set in motion a year or more before that tasty ground beef ended up in your burger bun.

The sequence above "shows the efficacy of grazing animals on senescent oxidized grasslands. This is active disturbance. This builds soil. This creates opportunity for biodiversity. This is a type of fire mitigation. This is FOOD." – True Grass Farms

Supporting local agriculture now means our farmers and ranchers can use that income towards resources for the coming seasons. Reliable revenue from consistent community support means the operation and supply can grow to meet the demand.

All this to say...If you want ecologically sustainable, soil building, mindfully sourced, humanely raised, delicious beef products year round, start by getting on the rancher's schedule and the bounty will follow your consistent support. We anticipate having ground beef from True Grass Farms back in stock the week of March 23rd.
