FEED Cooperative CSA Coordinator

JOB TYPE: Full Time (32-40 hrs/week)
LOCATION: Petaluma / Sonoma County / Remote
FEED Cooperative is a farmer and worker-owned food hub located in Petaluma, California's North Bay. Since 2011, FEED has been distributing produce sourced from our network of over 60 farms, predominantly located in Sonoma and Marin Counties, to businesses and households throughout the Bay Area. For over a decade, we have been committed to building the local food system toward a more transparent and ecologically-driven commerce space where the purchasing power of the customer is a direct investment into a farm-centered food system. GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The FEED Bin Coordinator is a full time position focusing on the creation, coordination, sales, and management of the FEED Bin - our year round multi-farm vegetable box. This role will work closely with the Purchasing Manager and Marketing Team to support FEED's long term mission of a self-owned bio-regional food system. The Bin Coordinator will be tasked with increasing FEED Bin sales in the first year through direct customer outreach and advanced marketing strategies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop the FEED Bin sales strategy with the goal of increasing sales within the first year which will include in-person sales outreach and development
Coordinate the design of all FEED Bin builds with the relevant FEED team members (Purchasing and FEED Bin marketing team when applicable)
Twice monthly work days at the FEED Warehouse to participate in the FEED bin builds, assess product quality, and capture the progress for marketing and communications purposes.
Coordinate with FEED’s management team on the combined produce sales strategy for all sales channels which include the internal FEED Bin program
Work with the Purchasing Manager to communicate FEED Bin needs and develop strategies for FEED’s crop planning process with producers. Additionally, collaborate to sell 100 percent of saleable product from our farming community
Report directly to FEED's General Manager regarding any concerns or events in real time that may affect existing protocols
Manage FEED Bin store inventory and availability
Research and add new local value-added products to the FEED Bin store
Monitor weekly number of bins sold and overall sales numbers in the FEED Bin program
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
Bachelor's degree is desired but not mandatory.
Experience:
Experience working in CSA and Direct Sales for other distribution hubs, farms, or other programs is highly preferred
Outgoing and motivated personality with experience in events and marketing preferred
Evidence of establishing & maintaining highly communicative relationships with others is key Familiarity with seasonal produce, food systems, or farm-to-table programs is a plus
Fluency in creating and contributing to the Google suite of products (Docs/Sheets/Meet/Slides, etc) is paramount.
Applicants must be able to drive to farms and to FEED HQ on a regular weekly basis
A working knowledge of Local Food Marketplace (our web-based supply and sales platform) is desired but not mandatory (training can be given)
Organizational agility and leadership ability to shepherd projects through the organization and across the supply chain
KEY COMPETENCIES
A valid California driver's license with a clean driving record is required
A willingness to work with the FEED Cooperative community of members to enhance the farm-based culture of our food system
Must be a true self-starter that can work within a team environment, and can also eagerly take self-ownership of one's position
Adept at using all Google Suite products
The ability to oversee product sampling and quality control with our warehouse and receiving teams
Ability to take the initiative, stay organized, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with food and sustainability-related certifications and requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Some heavy lifting up to 50 lbs may be required
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$28-32/hr DOE
2 weeks paid vacation
5 PTO/sick days per year
