Live Oak Farm
Arriving at Live Oak Farm Petaluma, folks are greeted by the property's namesake, a century old magnificent oak tree, a standing testament to the rich history of this land. Formerly known as Bundesen Ranch, Live Oak Farm's 30 acres were lovingly cared for by four generations of the Bundesen family of chicken farmers who helped build the agricultural legacy of Petaluma, once called the “Egg Basket of the World.”
In 2014, Randy Goldstein purchased the property, with an interest in food, health, and as a green energy entrepreneur for 35 years, he wanted to understand the impact farming has on the climate. Randy immediately got to work creating Sonoma County's first "agrihood," an environmentally sound neighborhood built around a working farm. With the first new net-zero homes currently under construction, Live Oak Farm unites the beautifully simple idea of growing food and growing community together.
Now in its tenth growing season, Live Oak Farm is cultivating mixed veggies and herbs, as well as four acres of fruit trees - apples, pluots, persimmons, and pomegranates. Their onsite farming team is constantly working to improve production, while also committed to sustainable practices to boost food nutrition, build healthy soils, reduce water consumption, and sequester carbon... to provide beautiful produce today and ensure harvests for generations to come.
Live Oak Farm's history with FEED Sonoma dates back to the first year they farmed in 2015;
they're honored and happy to sustain their partnership with FEED, as it forges its way into the future.
