Apple Cinnamon Rolls

As we enter into fall we have a bounty of beautiful apples. I love cinnamon rolls and I love apples so I thought why not combine them? This recipe is light and fluffy and has a drizzle of honey within the cinnamon roll. The apples get nice and tender and caramelized because of the sugar and honey. It is almost like an apple pie inside of a cinnamon roll. Needless to say, I had so much fun making and eating them and I hope you do as well!

Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 1 cup Warm milk

  • 2 1/4 Tsp dry yeast

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/3 cups melted unsalted butter

  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar

  • 1 TBS Honey

  • 1 Tsp salt

  • 1 Tsp Cinnamon

  • 5 Cups Flour

For the Filling

  • 1/4 Cup melted butter

  • 1/2 Cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 Sprinkle of granulated sugar

  • 1 Tbs Honey

  • Cinnamon

Directions:

Step 1

Take the yeast and a pinch of sugar and proof the yeast in a bowl with the warm milk.

Step 2

Add your eggs, sugar, and melted butter. Whisk it together and then add flour and cinnamon and honey. Knead the dough and let rise for 20 minutes

Step 3

Roll the dough into a large square. Add melted butter and sugar, slice apples, and lay them down on the dough. Sprinkle some more cinnamon, honey, and sugar, and roll up the dough. Cut the dough into 1-inch disks. Sprinkle some granulated sugar on top. ( it helps it be crispy)

Step 4

Let the rolls rise for 45 minutes and preheat the oven to 75 degrees. Bake for 25 min or until golden brown.
