Russian River Farm is a small farm located on Westside Road just outside of Healdsburg. Started by farmer Dave Pew in 2014 – he brings experience gained in managing, owning and working on various farms in Northern California as well as time as an apprentice at the UC Santa Cruz farm and student of Geology at UC Berkeley – to create a diversified operation focused on maximizing the ecological health of the soil and plants in order to provide customers with the highest quality produce. In addition, great focus and care is taken to harvest each crop at the ideal stage of growth and time of day, and to handle and pack the produce in such a way as to maintain the greatest possible level of freshness for the customer. We are currently growing a great diversity of crops with an emphasis on Italian heirloom varieties, and anything else prized for top flavor. Some popular items include: mixed cherry and heirloom tomatoes, various frying hot and sweet peppers, Italian eggplant, radicchio, chicory, escarole, endive, lettuces, spinach, herbs, summer and winter squash, fennel, shelling beans, brassicas, Asian greens, beets, turnips, carrots, potatoes, green garlic, shallots, torpedo onions, melons and strawberries. We are fortunate to work with some of the best restaurants in Sonoma County and beyond, we sell at the Healdsburg Certified Farmers’ Market, and are starting a CSA set to begin in May of 2016. Also in the works at some point is a farm stand on Westside road. Upcoming projects include establishing fruit tree orchards and native hedgerow borders to enhance the beneficial insect and bird populations and the overall ecological integrity of the farm. We are in the process of applying for organic certification, at which point we will be doing business under the name Russian River Organics.
